Diguisit Beach Baler, Aurora 2023 |
The long zigzag road of Mount Aurora makes you dizzy more than Baguio does. I should know since I've been a frequent visitor of Baguio for several years. Yet, this long winding road paired with great skilled driving of the bus driver of JoyBus Premiere, makes it more interesting though. We came in a time where its rainy season and I say that it's been burdensome.
We departed from Cubao around 2:00 AM in the morning, arrived Baler around 8:00 AM. Upon disembarking, we opted to find a local eatery for breakfast. Luckily, Google Maps found us a Tapsilog place called Ram's Tapsilog. After which, we're picked up by KCs cousin's husband to spend a little bit of time to bond a bit and visit her kids. We requested them if we can borrow a motorcycle that'll be our official ride going around Baler's famous tourist spots. So for those who are asking how we managed to roam round the area, yes, I drove a motorcycle similar how Siargao works.
After a short time with ate Lea, kuya Howie and the kids, we're set to check in at The Cube at Baler. The rooms are managed by the famous Costa Pacifica situated also in Baler. It'll be our little home base in the next three days.
Since I've managed to write this blog super late, I should apologize in advance for not remembering the sequence of our entire stay. It was a little chaotic to be honest; since the rain has been non stop during our entire stay and we forced ourselves to brave the heavy rains using the motorcycle. It was quite an experience but it's fun nonetheless.
FIRST DAY: ERMITA HILL AND DIGUISIT BEACH
It's been a tough first day since it's been raining heavy that day yet we decided to face the rains head on and proceeded with caution. We managed to navigate Ermita Hill only using Google maps + heavy rains. It was challenging to drive a manual motorcycle since I only get to drive one once every 5 months or some sort.
We ended the day extremely wet. Up until we pull up to the hotel, the rain didn't stop. We bought food at Andok's on our way home to serve as our dinner.
SECOND DAY: SABANG BEACH, THE MILLENIUM TREE AND CAUNAYAN FALLS
Its raining still! But we managed to swim through our accommodation's pool. We swum for an hour then walked towards Sabang beach, stayed a bit and found ourselves in a nearby breakfast eatery. Right after that, we decided again to brave the rains and go to The Millenium Tree which is outside Baler! We thought it was just inside Baler all this time, but it's in the neighboring town.
We arrived at the Millennium tree which is in my opinion the true landmark of Baler. We ate lunch at the nearby eatery located in the main road of San Luis. Then off we go to Caunayan Falls.
Basically, if there is no rain during that time, We might've end up trekking the Ditumabo Mother Falls which is included in my bucket list. But I'll save it for later. What's important is we return safe, right?
THIRD DAY: GOING BACK HOME
All things must come to an end I guess. So the rain started to dwindle down a bit. And we just encountered a problem. We had trouble booking us a bus going back to Manila. So we decided to get off of our hotel to go to the bus station around 6:00AM to book us an afternoon bus ride going home. Fortunately, we ended up booking the same JoyBus premiere departing at 1:00PM. After which, off we go to the local market to buy pasalubong and grab some breakfast. We returned the motorcycle we borrowed with kuya and ate, then we just took a tricycle to go to the bus terminal.
Baler is such an amazing place. It was so alluring and inviting to the point that we can't wait to go back there and see other spots. Also, I'm tempted to bring my own motorcycle, but - who knows right?
You can watch my mini reel of our Baler trip here.
